BK Engine Specialties Inc. started life as BK Head Specialties by
Bobby Kammerer as a part time venture in 1978. As an avid drag racer
doing his race engine work soon began to grow into the prime shop for
area sportsman racers of all stripes. In 1979 the decision was made to
move forward into a full time business venture with Bobby handling
machine shop and Gayle running the office, parts, and no stranger to
most any machine equipment in the facility.
In 1981 several customers in the oil exploration and service industry
were tapping into Bobby’s electronics education with troubleshooting and
repairing generators and control equipment. This was the beginning of
the power system side of the business with a Kohler full line generator
& industrial engine dealership and later adding Onan generators &
engines to the product line. This diversification has allowed BK Engine
Specialties Inc. to survive many downturns in the economy while still
making the investment in equipment necessary for today’s performance
engines.
